In regards to the comment on being conscious of environmental and health concerns with your painting, there are a number of additional products to consider: Zero-VOC caulks and spackles, biodegradable paint trays, brushes made from recycled materials and more. As an eco-friendly painting company, these are products we use on all our jobs. We have a list of all the products and processes we use to make a paint job as eco-friendly as possible at http://www.patrioticpainting.com/eco-friendly-painting.html. Hopefully you're able to apply some of these tools and tactics on your DIY project!

Great weekend DIY ideas! I thought a video I made about how to paint a door might compliment your article nicely as per your suggestions and give your readers some direction on painting from a professional painter. You can find the video here http://www.trimlinepaintinginc.com/how-to-paint-a-paneled-door/ as well as some other instructional painting videos on various topics for your DIY readers.

Weekend DIY projects can definitely be fun. I like the idea of painting your front door. Potted plants are also nice but take a little bit more attention in the long run.
