Hi
My name is Susana and I know I am not going to be considered because I live on East Syracuse, Ny. Yet I want to tell you about my mess. I saw your first show and it was great, loved it. I wish you could come out to East Syracuse, NY. I live in a very nice town, I believe is a very family friendly place to live. I am originally from Philadelphia, PA, both my parents are from Puerto Rico and I have 2 children 4 and 9 witch I only speak Spanish to, and is hard but I want them to have it. We moved here in 2007 and it took me 8 month to find this house witch I think is an awesome house it has alot of character and potential. It almost looks colonial, I am not sure but I really like the house because it is spacies and it has land not that much but enough for the children to run around. I live on a busy corner, with 2 major roads. I do not have a fence because of money. We moved here with the intention of starting over me and my husband and also for a better education for the children. My husband is from Syracuse and I really loved the area it is beautifull here. He was told and prior to 2007 there were alot of teaching positions available but since 2007 there is nothing for my husband, there are too many teachers like my husband with a master in education yet he is a teachers assistant, With no job and no money we have not been able to do anything to the house, my basement walls pee, my windows even though are new, because we qualified for a lead program because of income and having children under four and my house full of lead, do not dare to call them and tell them the windows are drafty it was free work, I do not dare to complain, I am very thankfull for the new window, I also got insulation on my roof and walls for free, but I have an old house that needs alot of updates and we cannot do anything, the basement alone my husband saids it is killing him, he suffers from allergies and he said the house makes it worse. There has to be mold in the basement it smell in the summer and we run a dehumidifier all summer long, even thouhg it is costly. My rugs must be 30yrs old, there is a lady that as a child with her other 5 siblings used to live in my house, she now lives in front of us and she recognizes the rugs, she is 78yrs old. If we take the rugs and live it, we cannot afford to do the floors, so we live them and my husband complaints about it all the time. Sometimes he comes home and gets an allergy attack and he said’s in front of the kids “I wish I could burn this house I can’t stand living in this house”, so it has created a stressfull environment for us all. He feels bad at the though that he cannot provide for his family like he is suppose to and cannot do anything in the house because he has no money to do anything. I try to do little stuff here, like fixing the light socket or painting the cellar door, and he feels upset that I am the one doing it. Most of the time I feel he does not want to be in the house because is not a confy place to relax, so he comes home and goes straight to the TV and that is where he will be until I put the children to bed. We have a new sofa that we just bough, our budget was $300.00 is not the greatest but at least we have somewhere to sit. Prior to that we had used furniture witch we still have, We have brown paneling and flower wall paper on top of the paneling, we just live and don’t complain, but I hear from my daughter “why can’t I have a sleep over, or why can my friends come over, I feel no parent would like to have their children in a place that does not look like a cozy house, My daughter tell me her friends house are always so nicely decorated and ours is not. It hurts, I could also see that my husband is hurting and constantly stressed out, not happy, and because he is not happy it shows. We need help with the house a job for my husband as a Teacher and a better family structure, because, i would love to give my children a home, somewhere they are safe an is not chaotic, MY daughter once came home and told me that she wishes for her father to stop yelling at her and me, He is so stress out that he takes it out on me, anything then bothers him, I want to have a better relationship with my husband, he feels his manhood has been striped away because he cannot provide and do nothing in the house. Please, Please Helllllllllllllp us be more close knit family and have a house to call home, really home. I lobe my husband very much and it hurts to see him ddown too. Just think of it as the same state but farther. If you do no consider us, can you tell me of another show that might help us. We really need help.

I am interested in renovating my basement into a studio instered of it becoming a storage for friends and family members. its a big mess out there and I want everything out!
If I can be on the income Property show on HDTV, that will be the perfect solution to my problem. but as there is no chance for me to be there, I will take whatever comes my way.
I have a medical condition and I will never be able to this project without the help from companies like yours.
I hope you can help.

It’s very discouraging to find out that you have to live w/in 50 miles of New York City in order to qualify. I live in Michigan and would love the opportunity to plead my case.
If ever you are in the area, look me up:)
Thanks anyway,
Mrs. Jennifer Franks

It’s very sad that the HGTV shows does not cater to families in Florida. HGTV shows are watched all over the world. Why is it that only in certain areas that the show will go? I would like to have Home Rules come to Florida to see me family. I am currently going through a divorce, I really love him but it seems he is not a very good listener. By us being seperated for 2 years it hasn’t improved our relationship. I have seen alot of things I could have change because he would never tell me only when he was upset with whomever. I am a single mother need some coaching to get me through this. I have 2 children the ages 17 and 10. I attend school for my BA degree in Early Childhood Education. Just to give you something to think about doing a show in Florida look me up.

Dear Home Rules,
What a fantastic show. I was so impressed by the transformations that you have provided to hearts and homes so in need of change. I’m sure we can all find a reason or two why our homes and families are perfect for the show. I wonder if you can offer this relief to our family. My husband and I struggle with our schedules as all married couples do, especially those who have children and are both working full time. We have two beautiful and exuberant children, one of our “lovelies” has been diagnosed with ADHD. After dealing (and still managing to deal) with the stress and challenges of a child with ADHD, and learning about this diagnosis, both my husband and I are pretty certain I am much like my daughter. I can’t seem to get things finished once I start them, and trust me I try, I try hard and still can’t finish. I am also guilty of having “piles” of things that I have every intention of getting to but never seem to find the time because I either A. start another pile B. start an entirely different “project” or C. lose interest altogether and just stare at it helplessly for a few weeks, a month, or even more. We live in a 4 bedroom 185 y/o home with no storage, one bathroom to few, a “nonfunctional” nightmare in the kitchen, great bones and a basement with tons of potential. Needless to say it’s a good sized home but even with all of my efforts, it is futile I can’t keep up. On top of my weaknesses are my husbands. He is no more a handy-man than I am a rocket scientist. As a matter of fact my husband was born without a right hand or forearm. He literally cannot hold a hammer and a nail, only one or the other and we can all guess how handy that makes a man. My husband is an outgoing, confident teacher and lacrosse coach ( a strength and a weakness both) whose disability has never bothered him all that much. He has overcome in so many ways and is an inspiration to all who come in contact with him, and a role model to all the boys he coaches (Just wanted to assure you I wasn’t being totally heartless by pointing out his lack of handiness), he is aware of his limitations. When it’s broken it stays broken, I fix it or we pay for someone else to (and we know that can get expensive). Lastly, the coaching thing. Lacrosse is a year round sport here in central NY. Therefore, our schedule will change with the four seasons and the summer camp, fall schedule, winter indoor lacrosse, and spring section tournament. to boot we coach our daughters AYSO team, run my son’s spring/summer lacrosse program and whatever else comes up. I am traditional in that I like my family at the dinner table for supper, to church on sunday and in bed by 8:00 on a school night. I believe order in our home is crucial to our well being as a family and our kids security and development. We desire a peaceful, natural rereat. Here love abides, but is getting squooshed out by disorder and frustration. Please pay us a visit, we won’t disappoint.
Sincerely seeking peace,
Stephanie, Dan, Ashley & Ethan Pope a.k.a “The Pope’s”

Dear Home Rules,
I have been disabled for years. I was just diagnosed with a rare disease called “Patulous Eustachian Tube”. This is when your eustachian tube stays open all the time. I thought I was going crazy but, am glad to report that I’m not. I hear my heart beat in my ears, echoing from my own voice, constant tinuitis and have auditory dysfuntions.
My family see’s a normal person because I look normal. This has created alot of chaos in my family. My house looks like I should be on “clean house” or a “hoarding show”. No one can understand how this disease has affected me. There is no cure. I am a four generation family. 18, 21, 55, 58, 81, 82, 83, 93 and 95. I care for everyone the best I can. I always put myself on the low priority list.
For the past two years, I have been trying to remodel my home. When a contractor sees that your a woman stretched to the limit they take advantage of you. Financially and professionally. They preformed shoddy work and overcharged for their services. During the February snow storm I had outside damage to my house. The insurance company is trying to scam me and now I have a fear of hiring a contractor to make the required and necessary repairs.
They say silence is golden. Now I know why. I wish I had a silent place to go in my home to find peace and get renewed.
Can you help me?
From my prayers to God’s ears to your heart.
Sincerely,
Jacalyn Ford

So bummed you won’t come to PA (Lehigh Valley area) it isn’t that far from the city. I am a newlywed living in shambles (the entire house is ripped apart) with a hubby who works 11pm-7am in the morning. We managed to finishe the kitchen and poweder room, with sooo much more to go…The way our schedules are it’s like this house will never get finished. When getting married they should give a little life disclaimer that says do not attempt a major DIY project within the first 6 months of marriage, lol.

Hi Home Rules, I am writing to you about my Daughter who needs so much help it’s not funny. She lives in Jacksonville,Fl which I know is outside your area but I thought if you ever expand she would be considered. She is Mom to 3 beautiful little girl’s and also has a live in partner. She works full time and stays busy with her church. Her home is just under 1000 sq,ft with 3 tiny little bedrooms and 1 bath. Life for her is not easy as it isn’t for anyone. She has had many set backs( such as divorce and one of her girl’s is ADHD). The whole family needs to get orgainizes and in to a positive life style.
Please think about coming to Florida and helping my Daughter Donnette
